Want to Host a Grief Support Program?
Faith & Grief collaborates with local organizations to provide support for individuals in their community who are grieving. We offer certifications to implement our monthly grief support gatherings and lead the Faith & Grief Workshop curriculum. Both certification options may be delivered in person or online. We also provide tailored grief education programs on specific types of grief for the same audiences. Please complete the form on this page so we can contact you to discuss your grief support needs.
Faith & Grief Monthly Support Gatherings invite those grieving to fellowship over a meal while listening to a brief reflection on the intersection of faith and grief. This program meets for one hour once a month.
- Led by a certified facilitator, participants are grouped at a table and then share their experiences of grief.
- We start the implementation process by establishing a 90-day schedule.
- Two-day Support Gathering Leadership & Facilitator Certification.
- Preliminary meetings are needed to identify and vet potential leaders and facilitators for the Gathering program.
- This program could be offered as a community-wide program.
- An administrative and licensing fee is incurred in the second year of the program.
The Faith & Grief Workshop is typically delivered as a weekly grief workshop, but can also be adapted into a weekend retreat. The curriculum provides time and space to process personal grief in community with others. It includes:
- Small group discussions
- Spiritual practices designed to promote comfort
- Sacred stories that focus on grief
- Presentations on the nature and dynamics of grief
- The session lasts two hours, but can be adjusted as needed
We start implementing by developing a leadership team and recruiting facilitator candidates. Facilitator candidates undergo a short vetting process to explore interests, skills, and servant focus. Then, the team hosts a 1.5-day “train the leader” & followed by a two-day grief retreat or an eight-week workshop. As part of the certification process, newly trained workshop leaders co-lead sessions alongside experienced leaders. This “train the leader” model provides valuable practice for new workshop leaders, enabling them to master content and delivery. You can invite grievers from your community to attend the two-day retreat or workshop, allowing them to experience the program and build their support for it.
